General Rules for Data Management of “China Seismological Reference Model”

1. The data collected by the Product Center are shared by researchers in China. The data in the Product Center consist of Level 1 and Level 2, with the Level 1 data being the original seismic data, and the Level 2 data being the filtered seismic data and the processed intermediate results (e.g., dispersion curves) used in the construction of the reference model by the “China Seismological Reference Model Construction Group”^[1]. The Level 1 data are immediately shared by scientific researchers in China. The Level 2 data are shared by the “China Seismological Reference Model Construction Group” before the publication of related model results, and by researchers in China after the publication of related model results.
2. The data is for the scientific researcher’s own use only, and all use of data must ensure compliance with the confidentiality requirements of the original data (http://chinageorefmodel.org/en/data-management-rules/confidentiality-requirements).
3. The study results of Level 2 data users based on those data are required to cite the relevant papers of Level 2 data contributors and to seek their willingness as potential co-authors.
4. The use of Level 1 or Level 2 data involving the China Earthquake Networks Center is subject to Additional Rule 1 (http://chinageorefmodel.org/en/data-management-rules/additional-rule-1).
5. The use of Level 1 or Level 2 data involving the China National Seismic Networks Data Backup Center is subject to Additional Rule 2 (http://chinageorefmodel.org/en/data-management-rules/additional-rule-2).
6. The Product Center will permanently disqualify them from sharing the data for data users violating this Rule. The Product Center will also notify the data center that provided the original data and the relevant responsible department for data users violating the confidentiality rules. Violators will be held personally liable for relevant legal and political responsibilities.

Note: [1] “China Seismological Reference Model Construction Group” is formed by the following rules (http://chinageorefmodel.org/en/related-regulations/workgroup_decision): (1) Scientific researchers who have made significant contributions to the model construction will become members; (2) Any scientific researcher who provides valuable original data or new methods for the Product Center can become a member. On a voluntary basis, members of the “Construction Group” will become collaborators on the various achievements of the China Seismological Reference Model.
